“Linéaire Dining”, on 7 Vasileos Irakliou Street, is a completely cozy space, with an aesthetic that will charm you and transport you to another era. In one of the impressive neoclassical buildings in the center of Thessaloniki, the characteristic blue Avraam Samuel Yeni Building, for two years now has been operating as a space of unique hospitality and gastronomy that “marries” different cultures, with French cuisine as its main focus.
“Linéaire” is a typical example of how the history and architecture of a building can inspire a business and its menu. The Avraam Samuel Yeni Building, built in 1925 in the fire zone of the historic center of Thessaloniki, by the Italian architect Salvatore Pozzelli – creator of important public buildings in Thessaloniki and younger brother of Vitaliano Pozzelli – was designated a listed building in 1983. Typical of buildings of the era, with a basement, ground floor, mezzanine and two floors, it was renovated in 2019 and since then it has hosted two dining areas, which transport every visitor to another era.
Operating … “linearly”
First, the atmospheric classic bar “Le Cercle De Salonique” opened on the first floor, a cosmopolitan bar with influences from the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements, which brings back the “golden” era of the 1920s and introduces a new, stylish type of entertainment to the public, with premium drinks and cocktails, curated by Christos Sarikyriakidis, the third Greek with a “Bar 5” degree from the “American Culinary Institute”. Almost three years later, in December 2022, the long-awaited restaurant “Linéaire”, opened its doors on the ground floor, to be a place of unique gastronomic experience.
International cuisine with French influences and a menu based on the architecture of the building itself, is what characterizes “Linéaire”. Its very name, which means “linear” in French, reflects the succession of the two stores on the floors of the building, owned by George Doras.
Here, the acclaimed executive Chef David Buchanan, from New Zealand, presents unique gastronomic proposals, influenced by his stay in cities in Europe, the Middle East and Australia.
Through tried and tested, special techniques, always with fresh seasonal ingredients and pure raw materials, he “plays” with creative cuisine. He and Eleftheria Loukovitou, responsible for the restaurant’s management and cellar, as well as George Doras, who is responsible for public relations and the building’s decoration, like trying new flavors and want to offer you meals, like the ones you would enjoy at home. In the same way, “mixing” different cultures, they will welcome you to their beautiful space.
International menu with a French philosophy
The menu includes everything from rack of lamb to beef tartare, with a spicy and at the same time refreshing taste, thanks to the mint and cucumber that accompany it.
Scallops and foie gras for starters, quail eggs and shrimp chips, confit de canard and ravioli with egg yolk for main courses, as well as the famous lobster bisque – the soup for which, since its first year, people have been coming to “Linéaire” – are some of the proposals that stand out.
You will also find the rare lamb carpaccio, made from filleted meat, a dish that we definitely recommend you try! Everything, from the ravioli to the broths, is made on site and is fresh.
The cellar labels
In the cellar, about 40 permanent labels from the Greek vineyard and another 25 from abroad, which are renewed with new ones as soon as they run out, give you the opportunity to make many combinations of wine and flavors of the menu, on each of your visits. With winter just around the corner, red wines are getting ready to come to the fore, promising many delicious tastings, with the restaurant’s dishes.

The Parisian aesthetics of “Linéaire”, reminiscent of an authentic French bistrot, the simplicity of the table and chairs, the vintage furniture, the low lighting, the retro tiles and the collection of antiques that are added to the space every year through travels, will enchant you.
Matching the atmosphere, the French choices in chill out music, perfectly support a relaxed meal and allow you to chat comfortably with your company.
“Linéaire” offers the possibility of booking a privee dining room, with the space configured with a theme that suits your aesthetics, with the help of its people (theme evenings, fine dining experiences, corporate dinners, wedding receptions and other important moments have been held).

Tip 1: “Linéaire” operates from late October to early May. Its kitchen operates from Tuesday to Saturday and from 7:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and the restaurant until 1:00 AM. As the holidays approach, it will open from 3:00 PM every Friday and Saturday. The mezzanine opens exclusively every Friday and Saturday.
