ModartS is one of the most prominent cases in the dance and fitness industry in Thessaloniki since 2018. You will find it on 101 N. Plastira Street in Kalamaria, with its operation being twofold – on the one hand it is a dance school recognized by the state that deals with modern and classical dance and on the other hand it is a peculiar gym that offers special training options. It is worth noting that it is the first school specializing in the field of Modern Dance Arts in Greece.

The owners are Stella Christina Stefou, choreographer and dance teacher, a graduate of the Higher School of Dance of the Ministry of Culture and the Internationally Recognized Organization Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing based in London, for which ModartS is a recognized examination center, as well as a training center for professional teachers, and her husband, Michalis Doulkeridis, gold European champion in rhythmic gymnastics and a graduate of the coaching school of the General Secretariat of Sports with a specialty in rhythmic gymnastics.

Spaces of exceptional aesthetics and inspired by important events of the 20th century

The spaces of ModartS are decorated with murals of important events that marked the 20th century and of people who wrote history and are an inspiration.

On the ground floor, the Mr Chaplin room dominates, which is dedicated to Charlie Chaplin – a personality who represents the Art that ModartS also advocates, as he included elements of dance and circus in his films.

On the 1st floor, there is a particularly aesthetic room decorated with photographs and posters of the school’s performances.

In the corresponding basement of the building, there is the room for calisthenics, but also for aerial exercises and acrobatics, an ultra-modern space with all the necessary props for a complete workout.

Dance and gymnastics from the best in the genre

ModartS offers modern and classical dance classes, at an amateur and professional level. As Stella Stefou tells us, “our goal is to educate, entertain and inspire athletes, but also to train specialized professionals (teachers and performers)”.

At the same time, the school also provides the opportunity to train with special forms of exercise, such as calisthenics, aerial cloth and hoop, floor acrobatics and pilatesmat. Also, a combination of the respective types of exercise can be done, depending on the preferences of each athlete.

As Michalis Doulkeridis explains to us about calisthenics, “it is the basis of gymnastics. With the help of body weight, the athlete learns to perform exercises that require technical skills, muscle strength and flexibility, as well as to improve his balance”.

Both dance teaching and fitness services are aimed at all ages and levels. A typical example is the fact that the youngest student is 2.5 years old and the oldest is 65!

ModartS, in its six years of successful operation, continues to have as its compass the goals it set from the first day of its operation. That is, to develop the self-esteem of its students through the satisfaction that the realization of their goals provides them, to teach them to discipline themselves in rules so that they can develop their physical abilities to the fullest, to push them to face challenges and express themselves through Art. Goals that take shape daily, driven by the love and experience of the ModartS team.
