At 9 Pavlou Mela street, in Trilofos, Thessaloniki, you will find a gastronomic space one of the few, a real “hangout” or “temple”, as some have described it, of meat eating, the “Steki Steak House”.
This steakhouse – which has been described as one of the 10 “hidden gems” of the country in terms of gastronomy – will be found in a beautiful part of the area and you will leave having tried some of the most impressive, well-made recipes in cuts, handmade meats and other suggestions, the wine of your choice – from a list of over 150 labels – and your favorite beer, choosing from 40 different options.
“Steki Steak House” stands out, above all, for the quality of its meats. The four siblings, Konstantinos, Apostolos, Evgenia, Maria-Laura, and their parents, Anastasia and Ioannis, have transformed, over the last eight years, a former family tavern – which has been operating since 1995 – into a place of unique flavors, a steakhouse, famous for its T-bone and Japanese cuts, but also for its truly impressive, handmade 1,200-gram burger, made from 100% ground beef.
In the preferences of the judges, the Chefs, the foodies
In 2020, the “Steki Steak House” was recognized by judges, Chefs, nutrition experts and other foodies as one of the 100 best restaurants in Greece and as one of the “Hidden Diamonds” to enjoy unique flavors, in the “Restaurant 100” organization. Combining the traditional with the new trends, it is a place full of tradition and warmth, reminiscent of a tavern and a restaurant together.
To find it, one has to look for it. Not by chance, there are many who come here from all over the city or from areas outside it and usually, you will find the place full of people who come to try its special dishes, winter and summer. The reason they trust “Steki Steak House” is none other than their knowledge of meat and its quality. After all, Konstantinos has studied butchery and has many years of experience in the field, so his choice to deal with this specific subject was inevitable.
One of the first with cuts in Thessaloniki
“Steki Steak House” is one of the first to introduce cuts in Thessaloniki, supporting them with specialized know-how, with well-selected Greek and imported (from Australia, America and Japan) premium meats, cuts and appropriate, “juicy” grilling.
Going one step further, it invests in the knowledge and upgraded meat eating brought by the complex process of maturation, which gives grilled meats high gastronomic value. For this reason, it has a special Dry Ager meat maturer, where your favorite piece is also matured.
The four “tops” and many more
Four dishes that we highly recommend are the beef cheeks with eggplant puree, their own, handmade, beef crab and short ribs, which are slow-cooked for 10 hours before they reach your table and of course the 1,200 gram “Steki stuffed burger”, which is incomparable to anything you have ever seen or eaten before.
In addition to these, it is really worth trying the domestic beef liver and the pork panset steak, which comes from a local butcher, as well as the Black Angus rib steak. In any case, you can choose the degree of cooking you want.
Accompany your meat dishes with delicious appetizers, such as bouyourdi, grilled eggplant or beef tongue, refreshing salads and sauces and for greater variety, choose between pan-fried dishes and other classic meat dishes, such as Cypriot sheftalia.
The wine cellar
In the wine cellar, you have at your disposal over 150 labels from Greek and foreign vineyards and over 40 beers. Selections that have been made based on the right food and wine pairing, while some premium wines from the depths of Italy and Argentina, with a rich aroma, add a different style to your food.
At “Steki Steak House”, you will find a place that “encloses within itself” all the pleasures of the world of meat, a space that will make you feel at home, from the very beginning, one of the most must-see spots for meat lovers in Thessaloniki. The simplicity and passion of its people for providing the best service to their customers are visible in the atmosphere and in its dishes and it will undoubtedly become your “hangout”, as one of the best “meat shops” in the Thessaloniki area!
Tip 1: At “Steki Steak House”, it is a good idea to make a reservation, especially on weekends outside of summer. The space can accommodate up to 120 people, while parking is easy to find on the surrounding streets.
