In September 2021, a new pizzeria, “Una Pizzeria”, opened in the newly built area on the beach of Perea. Beyond the primacy of flavors, the philosophy here is the combination of Italian and Neapolitan cuisine with Greek elements, according to “una faccia una razza”, the well-known common expression of Greeks and Italians.

So, in addition to the important Italian ingredients, such as the San Marzano tomato, used in the sauce, and the method of preparation based on the Neapolitan tradition, many of the ingredients on the menu come from the fertile land of Epanomi and the surrounding areas and are based on seasonality, with experimentation never stopping.

A cook himself – in several businesses – the owner and initiator of “Una Pizzeria”, Andreas Tontis, deeply loves Italian culture and Italian food and highlights them every day in his place.

How does “Una Pizzeria” differ from other pizzerias in the wider area? It differs in that, with the exception of the San Martzano tomato sauce, PDO (Product Designation of Origin) of Italy and the special Italian flour used in the dough, the menu includes as pure Greek products as possible, which follow the cycle of the seasons and the availability of the day and are a source of inspiration for the cooks of its kitchen.

The result is a combination of Italian and Neapolitan cuisine with many PDO Greek elements that come directly from the fields and estates of the wider area.

“Una Pizzeria” thus becomes a representative of Neapolitan pizza, which in its area is a simple food, with the pizzerias operating as taverns, with also simple and local ingredients, coming from the wider area of Naples.

Pizzas and calzones with feta cheese, kefalograviera and pistachios

They like to constantly prepare new proposals, mixing flavors and textures so, in addition to the most classic pizzas such as the classic Margarita or with tuna, you can try pizza with roasted and smoked eggplant, garlic, tomato and feta cheese, the delicious Panuozzo Napoletano – a stuffed loaf made from their dough, with fresh, oven-baked pork pancetta, marinated artichokes res, tomato and “una white sauce” – and peinirli with Greek products.

Be sure to try the “Mista” salad, with leafy vegetables, cherry tomatoes, sautéed smoked pancetta and grana Padano flakes, but also the “Mista Greca” with feta cheese from Grevena and fried onions, as well as the “Marinara” pizza with anchovies and garlic, the “Tartufo” pizza with mushrooms, black truffle cream and white truffle oil, the “Greca “, with pecorino cream from Amfilochia, feta cheese from Grevena, pepper, olives, oregano or the “Polo” options, with breast fillet or chicken gyro.

Peinirli can include sheep kefalograviera from Grevena and sheep butter, or pork gyro, soutzouki and egg and calzones include ingredients such as goat feta cheese from Grevena and fir honey.

You will also find delicious and truly unique pasta options, such as “penne alla vodka” with sauteed pancetta afumicata, vodka and sour cream and casarecce, with gorgonzola cream and pistachios or sauteed syglino, mustard cream and thyme.

The menu also includes a juicy burger, country fries with truffle mayonnaise and the accompanying Jason’s bread, freshly baked bread with garlic oil and grana Padano.

The sweets

All the doughs are made from the same dough used in the pizza, even that of their dessert, the dolce – a calzone filled with praline and butterscotch. In sweets, we will sometimes also find suggestions of the day, such as tiramisu or sorbet, while what definitely stands out is the coffee with ice cream.

And the cellar

From the philosophy of “Una Pizzeria”, the wines of the cellar could not be excluded. We will also find fine wines from the vineyards of Epanomi or Thessaloniki, such as the wines of the “Gerovasiliou” or “Georgiadis” estate. Soon, there will be many more Greek wines on the wine list.

If you live or if you find yourself in the wider area of Perea, a visit to this special culinary suggestion is a must. You can of course order and have whatever you want delivered to your place, however we would suggest you try it on the spot while it is still hot. It is, by far, the best pizza in the whole area!

Tip 1: The store’s opening hours are Monday – Friday 18.00 – 24.00 and Saturday & Sunday 14.00 – 24.00.
