For two years now, Thessaloniki has acquired the smallest yet coziest wine bar you can imagine and this is none other than “Wine Hideout”, at the junction of Pavlou Mela and Palaion Patron Germanou streets, in the heart of the city . Within a few square meters, you will find it all: over 400 wine labels from all over Greece and the world, fine dishes to accompany your favorite wine or any other drink you desire, a privée room made especially for you and your company and smiling faces, from an experienced team, that will guide you in your every choice.
It doesn’t easily go unnoticed, but remains subtle, in any case. The “Wine Hideout”, in the beautiful listed building on 38 Pavlou Mela street in the city center, hosts a huge variety of Greek and international vineyard wines and has now established itself, in the hearts of many residents of Thessaloniki, as an extremely informed and beloved wine spot in the city.
The philosophy of “Wine Hideout” is based on wine tasting, along with information about each label and an excellent list of options, in accompanying dishes. Of course it is aimed at wine lovers and those looking for wine tastings in the city, but not only.
There are not a few people who, even though they may not yet have immersed themselves in the philosophy of wine, make a stop at “Wine Hideout” for a glass of wine and beautiful moments with their company. After all, its central point makes it a very welcoming corner and an ideal meeting point.
The premises of the “Wine Hideout”
At “Wine Hideout”, you will sit in its beautiful outdoor area or at the bar, since there are no tables inside.
With one exception, however. Right next to the main area of the wine bar, a separate, small and private room with glass windows and warm decoration, with a very comfortable sofa and restored brick wall, opens to host you and your company, daily or whenever the weather does not permit the tables outside. The same space is ideal for business and other meetings.
The complete wall cellar
Two of the walls of the ‘Wine Hideout’ are covered from top to bottom with all kinds of wine. Labels of white, red and rosé wines, desserts or sparkling wines and champagnes, are hosted in a wide variety and cover every taste. You will find, of course, other drinks or premium drinks and a wide variety of gins – quite collectible – rums and beers.
The wines are served with the “covarin” system, that is, without opening the bottle and letting the wine get air, which gives you the opportunity to try different wines during your visit, while the cold meats are cut on a “Berkel” cutting machine , which gives the thinnest slices. You will find over 100 labels in the glass list, some of which are truly unique.
The menu
The menu includes special culinary proposals such as authentic pinsa in various variations, bruschetta, ham, wine graviera cheese, soft sheep cheese with truffle, veal carpaccio or smoked veal tongue with lemon and lime pearls, smoked quail fillet with black truffle, salmon soufflé and of course, the traditional cheese and charcuterie platters, to match them with your favorite wine.
All the dishes are composed of premium ingredients, in order to have the best dining experience, in an ideal space, to enjoy a wine of your choice, solo or with your company, without disturbing you, when you want to relax.
A little “hideout”
After all, its name says so. What if it is located in one of the most famous and central corners of the city center? Whether you’re taking a break in your day, or choosing wine for your night out, the “Wine Hideout” is a little “hideout”, the perfect place to enjoy it. And if, again, you’re in the mood for socializing, the bustling corner of it will cover you completely!
Tip: The wine bar is open every day, from 18.00 onwards. It remains closed on Sundays, however, upon your contact, it can be opened for you on an emergency basis, as well as during the week at lunchtime. It is also possible, upon your request, to carry out wine or food tastings.
