Evolution of the “Blé Taste Gallery”, right next to the well-known bakery – café – bistrot on the pedestrian street of Agia Sofia, on 14 Georgiou Stavrou street, is a space with a unique concept.
Wine boutique – wine bar and prosciutteria “Blé Vin” has been introducing us, in recent years, to the world of wine and its culture, combining wines from perhaps the largest list in the city, served by the glass or from the wine cellar of about 400 of his labels, which we can try according to our preferences, with a fixed cork fee, at the shelf price.
Selected wines from all over the world and delicious suggestions for accompanying dishes, which include excellent prosciutto and cheeses of their own import and aging and sourdough pastries of long maturation, but also seasonal cuisine, with an expanded menu, are the suggestions of this well-kept place. Patrons can indulge in enriched pairings, make their purchases from the special area that functions as a wine cellar, and even expand their knowledge about wine. The premises of “Blé Vin”
Jazz and other, corresponding choices in music, ideal for relaxation and a quiet space, where the color of wood prevails, are the basic elements of “Blé Vin”.
In the flower beds of the pedestrian street, oak barrels and the external wooden tables and benches made of walnut logs and ulmus minor are ready to welcome groups for unique wine tastings, under the sounds of the adjacent pedestrian street of Agia Sophia.
The same counters are also located on the ground floor, where we get to know the people in the store, admire the prosciutto hanging in various places, the same ones we will try at our table and come into first contact with many of the labels of “Blé Vin”.
Descending the staircase that leads to the basement, a large, impressive space, a “cellar” actually, with its own bar and all the store’s labels on full display, depending on the regions and producers, invites us to wine tastings with our company, and on a guided tour, valuable for those who want to admire and learn a little more about the world of wine. The space itself is, due to its size and configuration, ideal for large groups, for events or company meals. Occasionally, events may be held for specific varieties or labels, from the store itself.
The best labels of well-known Greek wineries, “diamonds” of small Greek producers and excellent selections from great vineyards from all over the world are displayed, nicely lined up, on the shelves of the cellar.
The menu includes proposals suitable for every taste, appetite and age.
The mushroom ragout stands out, for sure – it matches, literally, with all the wines – the rabbit pie and, of course, the platters with selected Greek and foreign cheeses, Parma and San Daniele aged prosciutto, homemade chutneys, pickles from seasonal fruits and vegetables, barley sticks and sourdough breads of “Blé”, which come to accompany every wine.
