“Sorrento Napule Food Vera Pizza Napoletana” in Thermi completes two years of operation this year and is one of the relatively new pizzerias in the wider area of Thessaloniki, which is really worth visiting! Here, on Karaoli & Dimitriou Street, you will try some of the most delicious and successful pizzas, made based on the Neapolitan philosophy, both in terms of ingredients, preparation and serving.
It is perhaps the only pizzeria, where the dough is matured using the cold maturation technique and the result is unique! Combined with the original flavors you will find on the menu, it will become your favorite destination, until you choose your favorite pizza flavor, like so many others, for two years!
It opened in October 2022, with a purely Neapolitan philosophy! “Sorrento” is a pizzeria with unique quality, distinct flavors and a product that is constantly “gaining” ground! Its name inspired by Sorrento – the southern Italian peninsula particularly known for its abundant lemons and limoncello liqueur – and its flavors, inspired purely by the Neapolitan style of pizza, thanks to the travels made by its owners store in neighboring Italy and not only, but also their over 20 years of experience in catering abroad.
Sorrento’s Pizza Secrets
This is perhaps the only pizzeria in the wider area of Thessaloniki, which uses the method of cold maturation for 48 hours for its dough, with a result that is really special and delicious!
The pizza dough is made with yeast and matures, having had time to “rest” ideally, before it begins to take the shape of the pizza. The dough is fluffy and easy to digest, with a low salt content and each pizza has its own rich taste, thanks to the San Marzano tomato – doppio Vesuvio product – used in the sauce!
Each pizza is baked, for 60” in an open kitchen in front of you, in an open flame oven, on a volcanic lava stone, to achieve the authentic texture, taste and “leoparding” of the Neapolitan recipe – the black spots and blisters here and there, which make it so special and delicious.
The ingredients are plentiful and authentically Italian – everything is PDO (Products with Designation of Origin) of Italy, with the exception of the Greek virgin olive oil and the pistachio, which is used in a specific recipe. All items are made on site, upon your order – you will not find pizza by the slice or ready-made products – without preservatives, with fresh, seasonal products, which are cut on site and the list is constantly updated.
What flavors to try
New pizza flavors have been added to the menu, with most of the originals staying the same as people have already grown to love them and ask for them on every visit!
At the “top” of everyone’s preferences remains the classic Margherita. Fresh, hot and delicious, with juicy San Martano sauce, well-made dough and fresh, Italian mozzarella, it is the all-time classic choice, for every taste, every time of the day and every age!
Also, from the menu stand out the “hot” La bomba, with spicy chorizo, jalapenos and semi-dried yellow cherry tomatoes, as well as the “Don Diablo”, with spianata salami, honey and chili infusion and smoked red pepper. The Capricciosa, with salami salsiccia, prosciutto cotto, mushrooms, artichokes and olives, remains a stable value.
In the meat-free flavors, you will find Amalfi, with provolone, gorgonzola, parmesan, cherry tomatoes and basil pesto, while, if you don’t want any animal ingredients, we recommend Popeye, with mushrooms, baby spinach, garlic and oregano, a really special taste!
In the side dishes, you will find their handmade crust dips and to quench your thirst, the world-famous product line of “San Pellegrino” with its water.
Saltimbocca and sweets
In addition to pizzas, on the menu you will also find the delicious saltimbocca, small breads made from the same dough as the customer’s pizza on demand and filled -while they are still hot- with various panuozzo aka saltimbocca (raw ingredients, such as prosciutto, provolone, mozzarella, mortadella Bologna, stracciatella, gorgonzola, salsiccia sausage, friarielli etc.) that melt with the heat of the dough and acquire the appropriate temperature.
As for sweets, finally, calzone con Nutella, pizza ala Nutella and Dolci – with pistachios and nutella – will complete our meal perfectly.
