At 13 Kleisouras Street, on the pedestrian street connecting Venizelou with Chalkeon, not only is “Zeus is Loose” located there, but it also features its own “Nectar Distillery,” where the most divine drinks are… “crafted”! We are, of course, talking about the hostel at this location and its rooftop bar on the seventh floor, which—besides impressive signature cocktails inspired by Greek mythology—offers you a stunning view over Aristotelous Square like you’ve never seen it before.

“Zeus is Loose” opened in October 2020. The “Nectar Distillery” opened earlier, introducing the philosophy of this new concept to the Thessaloniki audience. And what is that philosophy? A combination of the city’s relaxed vibe with the ultimate reference point of the Greek pantheon—Mount Olympus, right across—presented in a modern interpretation of Greek mythology, brought into the 21st century. Naturally, the seventh-floor bar won hearts and became popular from its very first day of operation!

“Crafting” divine cocktails!

“Nectar Distillery” is the… “Distillery of the Gods,” a space focused on cocktails—after all, it primarily operates as a cocktail bar. Flavors inspired by ancient Greek mythology are “crafted” in their kitchen lab, within a zero-waste and circular economy philosophy focused on caring for both you and the environment (for example, fruit peels are turned into compost). These creations arrive at your table to impress you and, of course, refresh you.

The “recipes” are developed through internal tastings, leading to the creation of a themed menu of handmade signature cocktails. This year’s theme is inspired by the Journey of the Argonauts (in previous years, inspiration came from mythical creatures or the Labors of Hercules).

Coffee, finger food, and a view

Thanks to the excellent microclimate of the seventh floor—which keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer, thanks to its bioclimatic pergola—the venue attracts people from all over Thessaloniki, as well as visitors staying at the hostel or simply coming for a delightful coffee or their favorite drink, enjoying views across the entire city. In fact, many are so enchanted by the amenities that they spontaneously… “move in”!

Especially in the morning hours, when things are still quiet, many people choose “Nectar Distillery” for work or study with their laptops, as the relaxed atmosphere and environment are ideal.

Coffee is another strong point of “Nectar Distillery,” as the team is deeply passionate about it and collaborates closely with the coffee company “Taf,” through which they also regularly attend lessons and seminars. So, if you’re looking for a distinctive coffee, prepared in every possible way, you’ll find it here!

And if you get hungry, this year the menu also includes food options, mainly in the form of finger food such as focaccia, pinsa, and other snacks you can enjoy at any time of the day.

With a signature lightning bolt!

Spot “Nectar Distillery” and “Zeus is Loose” by the distinctive lightning bolt—the symbol of Zeus—located at the height of the seventh floor. Head up there and find your favorite spot to enjoy your coffee or drink.

With views over Aristotelous Square, the “Paradeisos Baths,” Panagia Chalkeon, the Roman Agora, the surrounding streets, and even stretching to Mount Hortiatis on the horizon—views you can only truly enjoy from here!

Whether you sit indoors, in the calm and minimal interior space, or outside on the terrace with pebbled flooring, plants, and open sky, the atmosphere and magical view—regardless of the weather—will make you want to come back again and again. And you don’t need to worry about a thing! Xenios Zeus will protect you, just as he does all his guests!

Tip: The doors of “Nectar Distillery” open at 08:45 in the morning and remain open until 01:00 on weekdays and Sundays, and until 02:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
