On Apellou Street, the small alley that leads from Alexandrou Svolou Street to Hippodromiou Square, specifically at number 3, the traditional tavern “Neos Galerios” has been operating since 2015. In the place of the old “Galerios” cafe, which many remember from past decades, the owners of the place have kept the traditional style and have transformed it, from a place for coffee, backgammon and snacks, into a hangout where the menu includes everything and is appropriate for good fish and seafood, but also for meat, which one can accompany with wine, ouzo and tsipouro.
At “Neos Galerios”, one will find flavors of Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, drink a beer at the bar along with the necessary snacks and see the whole process of preparing the dishes, in the store’s open kitchen.
A sophisticated culinary experience
The owners, Babis Zoidis and Kostas Manousaridis, have as their philosophy to offer customers something special, a refined culinary experience, with flavors that they will not find easily but also with the possibility to have a good time and have fun, in a space that acquires the atmosphere of a group of friends.
Despite the renovations that have been done, they keep the place in the form of a traditional tavern, with a relaxed atmosphere, music at the ideal volume so that everyone can chat with their friends, with a style that is more of a Greek tavern during the day and a more modern place to go out, at night.
Traditional flavors with a modern touch of the Mediterranean
In its modern and comfortable environment, you will enjoy a daily menu that combines traditional flavors with pure ingredients and a modern touch of the Mediterranean.
Cold cuts, such as sea bass or tuna carpaccio, fish fillets, such as miller or sea bass, steamed mussels, shrimp barley, sardines, are among the excellent seafood options and come to “bind” with delicious appetizers, such as seafood pastourma, dolmades or fava beans with octopus salad.
In the meat options, Black Angus Split, T-Bone aged pork, juicy burgers, Flank Steak, are some of the most refined choices, next to the juicy kavourmas with eggs.
Accompany them with selected, fresh salads, but also with a good selection of Greek cheeses, such as Ladotiri of Mytilene, or Mastelo of Chios with sour cherry jam, suitable for accompaniment, even with a glass of good bottled or draft wine, ouzo, tsipouro or beer .

The menu changes frequently and the restaurant’s blackboard will show you, daily, all the dishes of the day, such as black noodles with cuttlefish ink, salmon and brik or anchovy with fried onions, fried shrimp with tartar sauce, lakerda, red mullets and all kinds of fish. or seafood depending on the season and the fish of the day.
In winter, meat enriches the menu a little more and we strongly recommend traditional flavors in variations, such as smoked pancetta or premium meats, such as veal tagliata.
